Background History:

Sanada Nobuyuki (1566 – November 12, 1658) was a prominent samurai of the Sengoku period, the eldest son of Sanada Masayuki and older brother of the famous Sanada Yukimura. In 1614, tensions between the Tokugawa and Toyotomi clans reignited, leading Tokugawa Ieyasu to send 10,000 soldiers to besiege Osaka Castle. Yukimura escaped from Kudoyama, joined the Toyotomi, and fought against the Tokugawa. Nobuyuki, torn by the inevitable fate of his brother, witnessed Yukimura's heroic death in battle. After the Siege of Osaka, Tokugawa Ieyasu held Nobuyuki in high regard. In 1622, Nobuyuki became the first lord of Matsushiro, living to the age of 92. Nobuyuki’s wisdom and ability to stabilize his family's legacy helped secure the Sanada clan’s place in Japanese history.
